Reedley near Burnley to Bridgewater Marina nr. Manchester

Starting from our home marina of Reedley looking out over Pendle Hill this is a 7 day cruise that takes in the Burnley Embankment, one of the wonders of the waterways, and the Wigan flight of locks. The 23 locks raise the canal about 200 feet (60 metres) over a distance of about three miles and certainly make for an action packed time!

We leave Reedley Marina and head off through the short Gannow Tunnel and along the amazing almost one mile long embankment overlooking Burnley, truly one of the wonders of the waterways.

As well as the Wigan flight we will, of course, go past the famous Wigan Pier, don’t blink though or you will miss it!

We pass through villages and towns and have some lovely views before passing off the Leeds Liverpool Canal onto the Leigh Branch of the Bridgewater Canal. Time permitting we take a short run past our finish point to go over the huge Manchester Ship Canal.

Passing through industrial landscapes and countryside, with a variety of swing bridges, short tunnels and aqueducts this cruise has something for everyone.
